How to Get WhatsApp Message Templates Approved Faster

Most template rejections are avoidable. The formatting rules, category traps, and wording patterns that get approvals through in minutes instead of days.

Every message you initiate on WhatsApp outside the 24-hour customer service window needs a pre-approved template. Meta reviews each one — and while many approvals land in minutes, sloppy submissions can sit for days or bounce entirely.

Pick the right category — honestly

Utility, marketing, and authentication templates are priced and reviewed differently. The classic mistake is submitting a marketing message as 'utility' to save on conversation costs. Meta's classifiers catch this and recategorize or reject — and repeated attempts hurt your account standing. Categorize honestly and approval gets dramatically smoother.

Formatting rules that trip people up

Variables must be sequential ({{1}}, {{2}}, …) with example values supplied. Don't start or end the message with a variable. Avoid URL shorteners — use your full branded domain. Keep it free of spammy phrasing: ALL CAPS, excessive emoji, and 'act now!!!' urgency all correlate with rejection.

If a template is rejected, don't resubmit the identical text. Fix the actual issue, rename the template, and submit fresh.

Let tooling do the checking

Wanity lints templates before submission — variable order, length limits, category fit — and tracks approval status per language automatically. Most customers see approvals in under an hour.
